Your trainers are fully qualified DVSA ADI's (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency -Approved Driving Instructors)
Having many years experience in training in all aspects of driving from learner drivers to minibus and trailer training your trainer has vast experience across the board.
Having trained those who train in both the driving and the accessible categories your trainer has a wealth of experience and knowledge.
This is a one hour and a half hour taxi driver course which covers the following: -
Driving Licence Check and Eyesight Check (including DVLA Check so we will need your NI number, this may be done prior to your training)
Vehicle Checks
Show me Tell me questions
Short chat about your goals
Ten minute driving appraisal
Feed back on appraisal
Work on agreed areas which need improving
We will endeavour to cover most road types (town, country, dual carriageway etc), two manoeuvres including the 'taxi turn', emergency stop, pull up and move off safely exercises
The Accessible Training Course is one hour and covers boarding a passenger who is a wheelchair user and using all equipment safely.
The trainer will bring a suitable wheelchair for the training
You must bring a suitable wheelchair accessible vehicle (see next page for vehicle requirements) for this assessment.
We will cover all aspects including: -
Getting the vehicle ready for the passenger (ramp, tie-downs, seatbelts etc)
Customer communication
Boarding the wheelchair user using the ramp/lift and safe use of the lift if used
Use of wheelchair brakes
Securing the wheelchair and user in the vehicle
Removing the tie downs and passenger seat belts
Getting passenger out of the vehicle
Stowing away equipment used
