The taxi driver test is a 45-minute practical driving test designed to assess your ability to drive safely and professionally. The test covers a variety of roads, including motorways where possible, and includes:
Two manoeuvres
An independent driving section (you follow road signs)
A possible emergency stop
"Show me / tell me" You'll be asked questions about the Highway Code and vehicle safety.
You will need to provide a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to carry out the wheelchair assessment, you have about 30 minutes for this taxi driver test
Your examiner will bring a wheelchair to conduct the assessment
You’ll need to show your ability to:
Communicate with your wheelchair passenger. Safely board and remove a wheelchair user from your vehicle.
Use the wheelchair brakes correctly and use wheelchair tie-downs and seat belts to secure the wheelchair and user in the vehicle.
You must provide a suitable vehicle for your taxi driver test and training.
The vehicle must be in full legal roadworthy condition
You will be asked to produce proof or sign a document to say you have the following in place
The Vehicle you provide
Must have a current MOT, Road Tax and be Insured for the purpose of Training and the Taxi Tests
All equipment must be in full working order
The vehicle should be clean inside and outside
The vehicle must have fixed forward facing seating with working seat belts and head restraints for the trainer/examiner
